Cheffed Terms of Use
Last Updated: November 25, 2025
These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Cheffed Ltd ("Cheffed", "we", "us", "our") covering your use of:
- our mobile application(s) ("App"), and
- our website at cheffed.app and any related pages ("Website"),
together, the "Services".
By creating an account, downloading or using the App, or accessing the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Important: Cheffed is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, ReciMe, or any other third-party platform or app. Their trademarks and content remain their property.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
1.1 Eligibility
You represent and warrant that:
- you are at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, if higher);
- you have the power to enter into a binding contract with us; and
- you are not prohibited from using the Services under any applicable laws.
If you do not meet these requirements, you must not use the Services.
1.2 Account registration
To use certain features (for example saving recipes, syncing across devices, or purchasing a subscription), you must create a Cheffed account ("Account") and provide accurate and complete information.
You agree to:
- keep your Account information up to date;
- not create an Account using a false identity or on behalf of someone else unless you have their permission; and
- not share your login credentials with others.
1.3 Account security
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your Account. Notify us immediately at support@cheffed.app if you become aware of any unauthorised use or security breach. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your Account.
2. Access to the Services
2.1 Licence to use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:
- install and use one copy of the App on a mobile device you own or control; and
- access and use the Website,
in each case solely for your own personal, non-commercial use.
2.2 Prohibited uses
You agree that you will not (and will not permit any third party to):
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Services;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any portion of the Services, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- use the Services to build a competing product or service;
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security or access control features;
- rent, lease, sell, resell, distribute, or otherwise commercially exploit the Services or any content made available through them;
- access the Services via automated means (such as bots, crawlers or scrapers) except for public search engines in accordance with our robots.txt.
2.3 Changes to the Services
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or any part of the Services at any time. Where reasonably possible, we will give you notice of material changes. We are not liable to you or any third party if we exercise this right.
2.4 No obligation to support
We may, but are not obliged to, provide support or updates for the Services. Any such support is provided at our discretion.
3. Subscriptions, Billing & Free Tier
3.1 Free tier
We may offer a free tier with limited features (for example, a maximum number of saved recipes or basic grocery lists). We may change the limits of the free tier from time to time.
3.2 Paid subscriptions
Certain features (for example, unlimited recipes, unlimited cookbooks, weekly meal planning, smart grocery lists, advanced nutrition features) may require payment of fees ("Subscription").
- Subscription plans, pricing and included features will be described in the App or Website at the time of purchase.
- Subscriptions typically renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel through your App Store / Play Store account or through our Website (as applicable).
3.3 Billing and cancellation
Payments are processed by the relevant app store or our authorised payment processor. By starting a Subscription, you authorise us (and our payment processors) to charge the applicable fees to your chosen payment method.
You can cancel your Subscription at any time via your app store account settings or our Website (if purchased there). Cancellation stops further renewals but does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid, unless required by law or explicitly stated otherwise.
3.4 Changes to pricing
We may change Subscription pricing and features from time to time. For existing subscribers, we will provide notice of material changes in advance and explain how to cancel before changes take effect.
4. User Content & Intellectual Property
4.1 User Content
"User Content" means any content that you submit, upload, share, or otherwise provide through the Services, including:
- recipes (titles, descriptions, ingredients, steps);
- photos, screenshots, or videos;
- comments, notes, ratings, tags, meal plans, and grocery lists; and
- profile information and other text, images, or media.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of posting or sharing it. We do not generally pre-screen User Content.
4.2 Your promises to us
You represent and warrant that:
- you own or have obtained all necessary rights, licences and permissions to use and share your User Content via the Services;
- your User Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- your User Content complies with the Acceptable Use rules in Section 5; and
- you will not upload or share any content that breaches the terms of service of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or any other platform from which you source a recipe.
4.3 Licence you grant to Cheffed
By submitting User Content, you grant Cheffed a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable licence to:
- host, store, reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, display and perform your User Content;
- create derivative works from your User Content (for example, formatting a recipe for Cook Mode, adjusting servings, generating grocery lists); and
- use your User Content to operate, improve, promote and provide the Services.
We will not use your private recipes in our marketing without your separate consent.
4.4 Our intellectual property
All rights, title and interest in and to the Services (including all software, designs, logos, trademarks, text, graphics, and other content, but excluding your User Content) belong to us or our licensors.
You may not use our trademarks, branding or logos in any way without our prior written permission.
4.5 Third-party platforms and content creators
Cheffed allows you to import or re-create recipes based on content hosted elsewhere, such as TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. We:
- do not own or control content on those platforms;
- are not endorsed by or affiliated with those platforms or any content creators; and
- provide tools for personal organisation and cooking only.
You must respect:
- the intellectual property and terms of service of any third-party platform; and
- the rights of content creators whose recipes you follow.
If you are a content creator and believe material in Cheffed infringes your rights, please see Section 9 (Copyright Complaints).
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Services to:
Upload or share any User Content that:
- infringes any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary right;
- is unlawful, defamatory, misleading, hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, or otherwise objectionable;
- promotes dangerous, unsafe or illegal activities;
- contains explicit or adult content unrelated to cooking; or
- promotes discrimination, bigotry, or violence.
Engage in any of the following:
- transmitting viruses, worms, malware or any other harmful code;
- attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Services or related systems;
- sending unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional materials or spam;
- harvesting or scraping personal data about other users without their consent;
- interfering with or disrupting the Services or the servers/networks that provide them.
We reserve the right (but do not undertake an obligation) to remove, edit, or disable access to any User Content at our sole discretion, and to suspend or terminate Accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Nutrition, Safety & General Disclaimers
6.1 Recipes and cooking safety
Cheffed is a tool for saving, organising and following recipes. Recipes in the Services may be:
- created by other users;
- imported from or inspired by content on third-party platforms; or
- generated or reformatted by our AI systems.
We do not independently verify every recipe, ingredient, cooking method or instruction. You use all recipes at your own risk.
You are responsible for:
- checking ingredient quantities, cooking times and methods;
- cooking food to safe internal temperatures;
- managing food allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements; and
- complying with applicable food safety guidance in your region.
If you are inexperienced in cooking or are attempting complex techniques, we recommend seeking guidance from reputable cookbooks, culinary professionals, or local food safety authorities.
6.2 Nutrition information
Cheffed may provide nutrition information or estimates (for example, calories per serving or macronutrient breakdowns). Such information may be:
- provided by third-party sources;
- calculated by automated tools, including AI models (such as ingredient parsing and nutritional databases); or
- entered manually by users.
Nutrition data is provided for general informational purposes only and is not medical or dietary advice. We do not guarantee that any nutrition information is accurate, complete, or suitable for your individual needs.
You should consult a doctor or registered dietitian for advice on nutrition, weight loss, medical diets or specific health conditions.
6.3 No warranties
The Services are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our suppliers disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including:
- merchantability;
- fitness for a particular purpose;
- non-infringement; and
- accuracy or reliability of recipes, nutrition information, or other content.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we (and our directors, officers, employees and suppliers) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Services; and
- our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Services shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £50 / US$50 (or equivalent in local currency).
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence in certain jurisdictions).
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Cheffed and its officers, directors, employees, agents and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- your use of the Services;
- your User Content;
- your breach of these Terms; or
- your violation of any rights of a third party (including content creators and platform operators).
9. Copyright Complaints & Repeat Infringers
If you believe that material on the Services infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please send a notice to copyright@cheffed.app containing:
- your full name and contact details;
- identification of the work claimed to have been infringed;
- identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it is located in the Services;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorised; and
- a statement, made under penalty of perjury (if applicable in your jurisdiction), that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
We may disable or remove access to allegedly infringing material and may terminate repeat infringers' Accounts in appropriate circumstances.
10. Term, Suspension & Termination
These Terms remain in effect while you use the Services.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, or close your Account, at any time:
- if you materially breach these Terms (including the Acceptable Use Policy);
- if we reasonably believe your conduct may harm us, other users, or third parties; or
- if we are required to do so by law, by a third-party platform, or for security reasons.
You may delete your Account at any time through the App or by contacting us at support@cheffed.app.
Upon termination:
- your right to access and use the Services will cease immediately; and
- sections which by their nature should survive (including ownership provisions, disclaimers, limitations of liability and indemnity) will continue to apply.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will:
- post the updated Terms on the Website and/or within the App; and
- update the "Last updated" date at the top.
If a change is material, we will provide additional notice (for example, by email or in-app notification). By continuing to use the Services after the updated Terms become effective, you agree to be bound by them.
If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Services and may choose to close your Account.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
12.1 Governing law
These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
12.2 Courts
You and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales to resolve any dispute arising in connection with these Terms or the Services, except where another forum is required by mandatory law.
13. General
- These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Cheffed regarding the Services.
- If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
- Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
